Keats first hospital visit!

We are happy to report that Keats' first hospital visit and ear surgery went GREAT; he's already hearing much better and acting much happier!  The most stressful part for the parents was watching him go under and  wake-up from the anesthesia. Keats happens to be a child that becomes 'excited'-appearing to convulse a bit while his eyes roll around- right before passing out (of course!); which Lance wasn't prepared for (only one of us could accompany him to the operating room).  The anesthesiologist assured Lance it was a normal response and all was well. 

15 minutes later we were greeted by the ENT Dr. with a report that all went well and that Keats should be hearing better immediately, especially in his left ear.   We then headed quickly to the recovery room where we were both a bit startled to find 3 nurses attempting to hold him down while he was thrashing about and coming out of the anesthesia (of course he'd be one to thrash as he wakes up!!); Lance quickly jumped in and cuddled him while he woke up (the last picture below).  Overall, it was a really great hospital experience.  We were very impressed with the staff, the toys, and the attention to detail.  We're guessing Keats will soon be requesting to go back to the "Dr." to play on all of the 'toys', on his own wheeling bed, and to wear the really fun 'pajamas'.

Mack!!

The biggest question we're pondering these days is whether we're looking at a Kenworth, Freightliner, Peterbilt or Mack truck.  Thanks to the obsession with the movie 'Cars' (thanks really to cousin Josh!), we call them all "Mack", though we rarely see Macks here in Vermont (they rust!!).  

Lucky for Keats, the new house is located just two blocks from a trucking company, train tracks and a storage shed for road salt, providing plenty of opportunities to watch the trucks at work. On really lucky days one of his 'friends' at the trucking company lets him sit in the driver's seat for awhile.  "Keatsie drive please"?!!

Here Keats is showing you his "little Mack".  Can you believe it looks just like the big one?!  It is very cute to watch as he looks up at the big truck and then down at his truck to compare them.

Cookin' with Papa

Cooking egg and cheese sandwiches with Papa is my new favorite activity...here I am finishing off the sandwich I made for Mama for lunch.  First I spread the eggs and cheese on the bread.

Then I twist the pepper shaker a few times until I see the black spots.
Finally, I shake the salt..just a little bit.  :) Yummy.
