The Vermont Children's Trust Foundation has an annual fundraiser.. and it is magical. The event is in such high demand that you can only get tickets by donating money throughout the year to the foundation, entering a lottery system where you have less than a 30% chance of getting tickets, or volunteering to work a 4 hour shift during the event.... Luckily Mama Margaret makes a great Elf. Here's what we did:
1.) Donated a children's book to the foundation
2.) Boarded the Polar Express train for a ride to the North Poll
3.) Enjoyed fresh hot cocoa, cookies, & sang Christmas Carols all the way to the North Pole
4.) Exited the train at the North Pole through a sea of "elves" who knew Keats name.
5.) Listened to the reading of the Polar Express Story
6.) Met with Santa and received a bell from Santa's Sleigh.
7.) Mama volunteered as an elf the next day & welcomed the Vermont National Guard children & the Fletcher Allen Children's Hospital cancer ward to the North Pole.. and loved every minute of it!
Below are some pictures & brief videos of the event. Come next year.. volunteer with us!!
